Although the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products pose limited or no threat, several have been linked with significant health conditions, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer are found in food and lots of other ordinary goods.
