Though many chemicals in cosmetics pose very little or zero threat, several dozen have been linked to significant medical conditions, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other common goods. Yet, no classification of consumer goods is accountable to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including Lipstick (Bubblegum). While most of the chemicals in cosmetics in all likelihood pose minimal risk, exposure to some is associated with major health disorders, including cancer.
