Although most chemicals in cosmetics pose very little or absolutely no risk, several dozen have been associated to severe medical problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other everyday products. Yet, no sector of consumer products is subject to less government management than cosmetics, including Lipstick (Surreal). Though many of the chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly present very little risk, being exposed to a few is associated with worrying health disorders, including cancer.
