Although many chemicals in cosmetic products pose limited or no risk, some are associated with substantial health problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into a person's body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and various other ordinary goods.
