While many chemicals in cosmetic products pose very little or no danger, dozens are linked with serious medical problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals get into a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food, water, and various other ordinary goods. Although many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics very likely present little risk, exposure to a few is associated with critical health conditions, such as cancer.
