While the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose limited or no risk, several dozen are associated to serious health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and many other commonly used items.
