While the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products pose slight or absolutely no danger, dozens have been linked to significant medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through inhalation, ingestion, and the skin, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and lots of other common products. However, no type of consumer products is subject to less government direction than cosmetics, including Day Cover Perfecting Foundation. While many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly present minimal risk, being exposed to a few has been associated with significant health concerns, including cancer.
