Though the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products present very little or zero risk, several dozen have been associated with substantial health issues, such as cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food, water, and various other commonly used items. Still, no classification of consumer items is subject to less government management than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Lip Glosses. Although many of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics almost certainly present little risk, subjection to some has been linked to worrying health problems, such as cancer.
