While the majority of chemicals in cosmetics pose little or absolutely no risk, dozens are linked to severe medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and a lot of other ordinary products.
