While the majority of chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics present little or no threat, several have been associated with substantial medical problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in water, food, and several other commonly used products.
