Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and several other common products. However, no type of consumer products is susceptible to less government direction than cosmetics and other personal products, including DC 658 Nail gel & polish.
