Though many chemicals in cosmetics pose slight or no risk, dozens have been associated with severe medical problems, including developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through inhalation, the skin, and ingestion, and cause the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals linked to cancer can be found in water, food, and lots of other everyday goods. Yet, no group of consumer goods is susceptible to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal care products, including Mini Norvina Pro Pigment Vol. 1 (Shade B1). Although many of the chemicals and contaminants in cosmetics and personal care products probably pose very little risk, exposure to a few has been linked to critical health disorders, such as cancer.
