Though most chemicals in beauty products present minimal or no risk, several dozen have been associated with substantial medical problems, such as cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals enter the body through the skin and inhalation, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food, water, and several other ordinary goods.
