While the majority of chemicals in cosmetic products pose little or zero danger, dozens have been associated with severe health conditions, including cancer, reproductive and neurological harm, and developmental delays. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer can be found in food and lots of other ordinary items. But, no area of consumer items is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Norvina Pro Pigment Vol. 3 (Shade A1). Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products almost certainly pose little risk, being exposed to some has been linked to worrying health problems, such as cancer.
