Although many chemicals in cosmetics present very little or no risk, some are linked with significant health issues, such as developmental delays and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and lead to the same dangers as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants associated with cancer are found in food, water, and several other commonly used products. But, no classification of consumer products is subject to less government inspection than cosmetics, including Norvina Pro Pigment Vol. 3 (Shade A1). Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics likely pose very little risk, exposure to a few is associated with serious health concerns, including cancer.
