Although many chemicals in beauty products present slight or no danger, dozens are associated with serious health problems, such as developmental delays and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics get into the body through ingestion, inhalation, and internal use, and lead to the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals associated with cancer can be found in food and lots of other common products.
