While many chemicals in cosmetic products present very little or no danger, several dozen have been linked with serious health problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food and lots of other common goods.
