While many chemicals in cosmetic products present very little or no danger, several dozen have been associated to serious medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Contaminants and chemicals linked to cancer can be found in food and many other commonly used items.
