While many chemicals in beauty products and cosmetics pose limited or no threat, several have been linked to considerable medical conditions, including cancer, and neurological harm. Cosmetic chemicals can enter a person's body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and cause similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer can be found in water, food, and a lot of other commonly used items.
