Although many chemicals in cosmetics pose little or no threat, several have been associated with substantial medical problems, including neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics gain entry to the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and pose similar risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in water, food, and several other commonly used products. Still, no classification of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics, including Liquid Lipstick (Shade Bittersweet). Though most of the contaminants and chemicals in cosmetics and personal care products likely pose minimal risk, exposure to some is associated with significant health disorders, such as cancer.
