Though most chemicals in cosmetics pose slight or absolutely no risk, several dozen are linked with serious medical problems, including cancer, and neurological harm. Chemicals in cosmetics enter the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to similar problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food, water, and lots of other commonly used products. But, no category of consumer products is subject to less government oversight than cosmetics and other personal products, including Liquid Lipstick (Shade Insomniac).
