Though most chemicals in beauty products present very little or no threat, dozens have been associated with significant medical conditions, including neurological harm and cancer. Cosmetic chemicals get into the body through the skin, inhalation, ingestion and internal use, and lead to the same risks as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals associated with cancer are found in food and several other commonly used products. However, no group of consumer products is susceptible to less government inspection than cosmetics and other personal products, including Liquid Glow (Shade Patina).
