While the majority of chemicals in beauty products pose slight or zero threat, several dozen are linked with serious medical conditions, such as neurological harm and cancer. Chemicals in cosmetics can enter the body through internal use, the skin, and inhalation, and pose the same problems as food chemicals, per this site.

Chemicals and contaminants linked to cancer are found in food, water, and several other commonly used products.
