Ted Henning founded BrainMeld in early 2006 and is in the process of making it a non-profit organization. He spent many years as a producer in the video game industry, producing games on multiple platforms for companies such as Disney, Sony, Microsoft and Mattel. He then turned his focus to his life long passion and began working towards his Masters degree in Educational Technology.

The work of researchers such as Henry Jenkins, John Paul Gee, Clark Aldrich, Kurt Squire and Marc Prensky greatly influenced Ted and helped him recognize the innate link between education and gaming. Through first-hand experience, he also knew of the chasm that separated the two industries and wanted to find a way to replace the apprehensions both sides felt with knowledge and understanding in hopes of creating a richer learning experience for students.

As part of his Masters thesis, he created a course for the National University Graduate School of Education entitled Motivating Learners through Gaming and Simulations which was designed to improve teachers' games literacy and give them the skills they needed to utilize the learning power of video games in their classrooms. The final projects for this course are video game teaching guides, the best of which serve as a foundation for the BrainMeld library.

Ted is currently an Associate Professor of Instructional Technology at National University's School of Media and Communication and is involved with several other educational projects regarding technology and gaming. He also works with XLT Studios, a new animation studio that uses game engine technology to create high-quality, low-cost CGI animation.

BrainMeld is an open forum and welcomes input from all those interested enough to give it. Please feel free to contact Ted with any comments, criticism, ideas, suggestions or if you are interested in getting involved THenning@BrainMeld.org.

Is this going to be scary? Because I warn you, I'm easily startled and will scream like a baby.“
